Patriot Teams

At the middle school level, our 5th through 8th graders are able to pursue their passion for sport and perhaps discover a new love for competition, all while having the opportunity to finally represent their school and wear the Davidson Day Patriot uniform. At this level, participation, learning new sports, and working with coaches are important dynamics. Typically, middle school teams will practice and play only four days a week, as opposed to JV and varsity teams that require a greater time commitment.

It is always a possibility that we will offer junior varsity sports when participation numbers allow. The Athletic Department’s preference is to always say “yes” when an opportunity like this arises to benefit our school and students. Typically, junior varsity sports are only available to high school freshmen and sophomores, but at independent schools and Davidson Day, 7th and 8th graders may also be considered for play on these teams.

Davidson Day varsity teams are designed to be competitive and to compete for and win conference and state championships. Sportsmanship, leadership, commitment, excellence, class, and dignity are all expectations of our varsity student-athletes. Our teams compete locally, regionally, and sometimes nationally.

Davidson Day competes on the junior varsity and varsity levels as a part of the 3A classification in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA) and is a member of the Foothills Athletic Conference (FAC) for most varsity and middle school sports.
