Community Engagement

Center for Community Engagement
Community Engagement is evidence of Davidson Day School's commitment to excellence through experiential and high impact learning for its JK-12th grade students. An engaged community includes a team of informed and active students, dedicated faculty and staff, and involved families. As a mission-driven entity, Community Engagement emboldens school wide and shared communication, cooperation, and collaboration and graduates kids prepared to lead, succeed, and serve in their local and global communities.
  • Davidson Day students and faculty have been serving in the community since the early 2000s
  • We are connecting experiential learning to real world practice through high impact learning outcomes at every grade level
  • Community Engagement includes relief efforts, individual betterment, and community development that empowers others and offers sustainability
  • Patriot Community Engagement Councils (PCECs) are divisional service groups where students and faculty collaborate to develop high impact service projects
  • The vision of Community Engagement at Davidson Day is to deepen students' educational experience through leadership and service

Past Events

The Davidson Day Summit: The Value of Community Engagement spotlights non-profit and industry leaders locally and abroad who are making a difference in their communities. Alongside experienced community activists and officers, we will seek to define community engagement, deliver a case for experiential learning as an integral means to foster academic excellence, and connect through audience Q&A.

Davidson Day is hosting its first-ever Nonprofit Fair. As a follow-up from the February 7 Community Engagement Summit, students will meet representatives of local nonprofit organizations serving various communities in poverty alleviation, housing, providing access to food, educational support, health, arts & culture, environment, and more. This event provides an opportunity for nonprofit organizations to share their mission and volunteer needs with our middle school and upper school students connecting them with areas of interest and passion beyond our four walls. It will also offer a peek at potential volunteer opportunities to participate in during "PATRIOT Week", scheduled in April, which is our 7+ days of services designed to engage all Davidson Day families with the community.

April 14-21, 2024 | "PATRIOT Week"
Davidson Day JK-12th grade students, families, and faculty are invited to lead through 7+ days of service. This is an opportunity to volunteer together as Patriots, empower communities, and deepen our compassion, connection, and impact through service, kindness, and support. Partnering nonprofits will provide service projects for all ages. All service projects will be scheduled outside of instructional time. More details to come as we get closer to the event!
