Davidson Day Welcomes New Head of School

Andrew brings with him 18 years of experience as an educator and leader in independent day and boarding schools on the East and West Coasts, along with a clear vision and expertise in school operations, advancement, and strategic planning.

“Andrew, an educator at heart with a thoughtful and engaging demeanor, has a passion for and belief in the power of independent school education that is apparent the moment you meet him,” Board of Trustees Chair Takila Williams Naylor said.

“Andrew’s professional and personal values – including an emphasis on cultivating intellectual curiosity and joy in learning, creating programs and initiatives rooted in excellence, and building a culture of collaboration, trust, and problem-solving – are well-aligned with the values and aspirations of the Davidson Day community,” she continued.

Andrew’s extensive experience in both day and boarding schools on both coasts has provided him with keen insights into what makes an independent school exceptional. He sees immense potential in Davidson Day School and is eager to contribute his knowledge, recognizing that the school’s heart and commitment to excellence make it a special place.

“Though I have worked at and visited schools across the country, I have not seen a school so resolutely live its mission as Davidson Day does,” Andrew said. “It’s exciting to join an educational community that, like me, believes to its core in the power and pursuit of academic excellence via collaboration, creativity, and character development.”

Andrew’s first year at Davidson Day coincides with the school’s historic 25th anniversary. Throughout the year, Davidson Day will honor the school’s past and future with anniversary celebrations, from community events to sharing stories from faculty, staff, students, families, and alumni that highlight this school's impact over its 25-year history.

“As we enter this milestone year, it’s an opportunity to stay rooted in our history—a school dedicated to both student success and wellbeing—and to unite with purpose as we look to the future,” Andrew said. 

As he begins his tenure at Davidson Day, Andrew noted that what is most important as he begins charting a course toward becoming one of the nation’s premier independent day schools is listening and learning from the community, including students, faculty and staff, families, and alumni.

“What a true honor it is to be your Head of School – a privilege I do not take for granted. It’s time to get to work.”
