Davidson Day Announces Patriot Athletic Hall of Fame Inaugural Class

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Davidson Day School proudly announces the inaugural class of inductees into the Patriot Athletic Hall of Fame. Established by the Davidson Day Athletic Department in collaboration with the Patriot Athletic Club, the Patriot Athletic Hall of Fame pays tribute to the greats of Davidson Day Athletic.
The inductees will be honored at halftime of the Varsity Boys Basketball game on Friday, January 17th, 2025.

Congratulations to this incredible group of individuals!

Lamar Briggs ‘14
A multi-sport standout, Briggs was a four-time NCISAA All-Conference and All-State selection for baseball and a three-time All-Conference and All-State selection for football, and he was named Davidson Day Male Athlete of the Year in 2014. Following his graduation from Davidson Day, Briggs played Division I baseball at Jackson State University in the Southwestern Atheltic Conference, where he was selected to the All-Conference team three times. Briggs played baseball professionally in the United States, and he currently plays professionally in Australia.

Maya Caldwell ‘17
Caldwell was a dynamic force on the basketball court at Davidson Day. She was a two-time NCISAA All-State selection, three-time state finalist, and multi-time conference player of the year. A top-100 national recruit and four-star prospect, Caldwell excelled at the University of Georgia, starting over 80 games and earning SEC All-Tournament and SEC Honor Roll honors. Following her graduation from UGA, Caldwell played basketball professionally in Israel and Turkey, as well as in the WNBA with the Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever. Currently, Caldwell plays professionally in Spain with Spar Uni Girona.

Rashun Davis ‘12
While at Davidson Day, Davis was an NCISAA All-State selection and a three-time All-Conference selection for basketball. He played in the coveted 2012 Jordan Brand Classic in Charlotte, N.C., as one of 16 Division I commits. Davis played basketball collegiately at Radford University and started over 50 games. At Radford, Davis excelled as a Division I athlete, earning All-Conference and All-Freshman honors and leading the Big South in assists during the 2015–2016 season. Davis has played basketball professionally in Bosnia, Hungary, Kosovo, Slovenia, Serbia, and Slovakia, and he currently plays professionally in Romania for CS Valcea in the EuroBasket league.

Jenny Falcone ‘12
Dominating the tennis courts with an impressive 72-2 record at Davidson Day, Falcone won the 2009 and 2010 NCISAA singles state championships and the 2010 doubles state title. In 2010, Falcone was named NC High School Female Athlete of the Year, and in 2011, Falcone was ranked the number 50 player in the nation. Falcone played tennis collegiately at the College of Charleston, earning Coastal Athletic Association All-Academic and first-team doubles honors. Falcone was also a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and All-Southern Conference selection. Currently, Falcone resides in Charlotte, N.C., and works as an IT recruiter.

Will Grier ‘14
Grier made his mark on Davidson Day football and was a three-time NCISAA state champion and All-State football selection. Named National Player of the Year by multiple organizations, including Parade Magazine and ABC Future States, Grier was also a two-time Gatorade N.C. Player of the Year. After stellar collegiate careers at the University of Florida and West Virginia University and finishing fourth in the 2018 Heisman Trophy race, Grier was drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. Grier has played football professionally for the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles, and he currently plays for the Dallas Cowboys.

Aaron Seward ‘13
Seward was a key player in two NCISAA state football championships for Davidson Day, and he earned multiple All-State honors. In 2011 and 2012, Seward was an All-Lake Norman first-team selection, and in 2012, he was an All-Mecklenburg County first-team selection. Following his graduation from Davidson Day, Seward played football at Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee, where he twice was the school’s fifth-leading receiver. Currently, Seward plays football professionally for the Bad Homburg Sentinels in Germany, and he is in his third season with this team.

Melissa Zammitti ‘17
Zamimitti was an extraordinary runner while at Davidson Day. Zammitti was a 10-time NCISAA state champion in track and field and cross country during her three years as a Varsity runner, and as a senior, Zammitti was a top-15 finisher at the Foot Locker USA South Regional Championships. She ran collegiately at Cornell University and the University of Connecticut. As a sophomore at Cornell, Zammitti placed 5th at the Ivy League 10,000 Indoor Championships, and, as a junior, she contributed to Cornell’s qualification for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships. Zammitti is currently in a Ph.D. program studying clinical neuropsychology at Pacific University.

Chuck and Karen Wolter
For the past 25 years, the Wolters have been gracious supporters of Davidson Day School and Davidson Day Athletics with their time, advocacy, and generous philanthropy. The Wolters led the conversation and the charge to make athletics an important part of the Davidson Day experience, and they were lead philanthropists for many Davidson Day projects, including the creation of and improvements to Wolter Field. The Wolters have also served on Davidson Day’s Board of Trustees, including as Board Chair.
