DDS holds off WCA in conference opener

The DDS girls basketball team overcame a outstanding individual performance by WCA guard Shaniya Jones, 24 pts., to get a key conference victory at home.  The girls showed some grit, played unselfish basketball down the stretch and got some key stops late in the game to win 55-53 in Yates gym.  Parker Tompkins and Maya Caldwell each scored 14 pts. and Anika Riley owned the glass getting several key offensive rebounds in the victory.
