Davidson Day is Defeated by CTK

My aunt from the east coast would say, "It was a scorcha yesterday", referring to the heat that our girls brought to the courts at Lake Norman Tennis Club.   Our Lady Patriots did their best do defend our school, but fell a little short against Christ the King.

Our very our freshman Hannah Conway brought the first and only win on the singles court yesterday, but it wasn't easy.  After winning her first set 6-1, she fell short in a second set tie break 7-6.  She then had to battle it out for a match tie break.  It was point for point, CTK's Kaylee Mosher did not make it easy for her.  What a nail biter!  Hannah ended the tie break with a score of 12-10.  Way to go Hannah!

Alyssa Horne dominated the net in her doubles match while playing with the ever fierce and speedy Allison Lehman.

New Lady Patriot Lauren Meister fought a hard match with her partner Ashlynne Horstman.  These girls played amazing yesterday having never played together or even met.

Mackenzie Davis and Alex Deane worked themselves around the court and worked well together.  Mackenzie was very consistent with her serving, and Alex handled the alley shots her opponents shot at her like a champ!

On the singles courts our girls fought so hard and never gave up!   As a coach, I could not be more proud of them.

Allison Lehman played CTK's Allison Simmel.  Although Allison L fell short of a win, she did something a lot of us could not have and that was return the heat to her opponent.  CTK's, Allison Simmel has one wicked serve and Lehman was able to give it right back to her.

Sully Young played as hard as she could against CTK's Mason Hull.  Hull pushed Sully with her deep fast ground strokes and Sully was able to slice them right back to her.  Sully could not pull off the win, but she certainly had fun and played hard.

Alyssa Horne played CTK's Lauren Chandler.  The two of them battled it out on court 3.  Alyssa showed her opponent the right way to rip that ball off of her forehand with a tough shot to return over and over again.

Court 4 was Hannah Conway against CTK's Kaylee Mosher.  As said before, Hannah dominated the court with her consistency and passion to win.

Court 5 was Jenna Chidwick versus CTK's Cate Richards.  For Jenna this was a rematch from last year, although Richards won, Jenna showed her how much she improved and made it very difficult for Cate to win.  These girls had many duece points that made their game last long.  These girls were well matched, Jenna will definitely get her next time.

Emerson Jones played in her first match against CTK's Nicole Bodnar.  Emerson worked through her nerves and played very hard.  Emerson moved her opponent around the court and made her returns very unpredictable for Bodnar.

The final score was 1-6.  We will get them next time girls!!!
